The client's brief for this project was to create a serene, peaceful space in the middle of the busy Auckland CBD. This project called for a re-design of an existing empty space for the use of a traditional Chinese Therapy and Reflexology Massage Spa. Complexities of the project were in the large amount of service pipes and structural elements suspended at different heights from the ceiling. This was over-come by carefully measuring the location and height of each pipe and modelling all pipes and beams in 3D ArchiCad, and then designing the new ceiling around the existing services. Earthy calm colours and materials that relax the senses were used to create a truly peaceful environment that combines both traditional and modern design.
